Meet our Founder and President
Founder Meaghan Barakett has been spearheading One Girl for over a decade. A former model, yoga and meditation instructor, Miss New York USA, and Mrs. New York America, she is a change catalyst and activist who inspires others through yoga, action, and community. A mother of two, and stepmother to four, her role as a mother continues to inspire and drive all that she does.
Under her leadership, One Girl has championed legislation on issues ranging from fighting cyberbullying to aiding parents after birth in caring for their children. Barakett's advocacy for laws intended to protect victims of cyberbullying and online impersonation was born from her own experience of being impersonated on match.com.
Meaghan currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Fordham University. She is also on the Board of Advisors for The Center For Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) at Fordham University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Pace University and a Masters in Nonprofit Leadership from Fordham University
